SUPPORTING EDUCATION WITH SCHOOL AND SPORTS EQUIPMENT SOUTH AFRICA, 2023

Lööf Foundation first visited Duduzani Primary School just outside of Durban, South Africa in February 2023 and are excited to be able to offer ongoing support. Opened officially on 4 August 2017, the school went to great lengths to celebrate the Lööf visit with the Swedish flag and colours and the children were dressed beautifully for the occasion.

Although funded by the government, the South African education system needs additional support due to a lack of school resources. According to Amnesty International, barriers to quality education are perpetuating inequality and failing many children in poor communities.

We were so thankful to get to know this wonderful local school in Durban, South Africa that is determined to deliver a good education to its pupils.

On 29 May, Sophie Lööf returned for a second visit to the school with her husband Patrik and daughters Vilda and Holly, together with their South African friend, Khosi. On their first visit, the Lööf family supported the school with school material, school uniforms and shoes. On the second visit, their car was loaded with sports material which the school has been in desperate need for, including the following items:

  • 14 football match sets junior and senior size plus goalkeeper kits
  • 20 pairs of football shoes
  • 10 Adidas footballs + pump
  • 12 water bottles
  • 20 vests for training + poles
  • First aid kit
  • 2 sets of netball outfits both senior and junior size, 10 of each
  • 3 netballs

 

They were greeted warmly by the children who came running to welcome the car as soon as it arrived and wanted to hug and play with the balls. The family was treated to Zulu dance performances and had a great time with all the school children. It was such a joy to see them all so happy with their new sports material. Thank you to Makhosazane Gantsa for arranging this special day.

In conclusion, Duduzani Primary School has left an indelible mark on our hearts. We remain committed to supporting educational initiatives like this one, as we firmly believe that every child deserves a chance to unlock their potential through quality education. Together, we can break down barriers and provide opportunities for a brighter future.
