Our newest project started this year has been supporting Hand in Hand’s work in Zimbabwe. Hand in Hand is a non-profit organisation that we have previously supported successfully in India.

They work to help underprivileged communities by creating better lives through job creation and entrepreneurship in order to increase economic opportunities.

Located in the Gwanda District of Zimbabwe, Simbumbumbu is hard hit by extreme poverty and high-unemployment – together with severe drought as a result of climate change.

One project this year was the installation of a water tap in Simbumbumbu Village. We have also empowered the community with better cultivation techniques and to now have access to water, will make a huge difference to their lives.

In a recent update from the Hand in Hand team on site, we have learned that with our help, Hand in Hand has successfully fenced the horticultural garden and installed the solar-powered irrigation system using the sand abstraction method.

So far, they have established seedling and tree nurseries and the construction of new toilets was completed by the end of August 2022.

The plan is to have 20 self-help groups (SHGs) on site and 200 jobs after the Hand in Hand training.
