International Day of Disabled Persons
Today Dec 3rd is the International Day of Disabled Persons that was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness of the situation of people with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
At Home of Hope we have a young boy called Anoj, 5 years old who lost his toes in a motorbike accident when his foot got stuck in the bike’s chain. Our great house-father Shyam and house-mother Asha really does their best with taking extra good and loving care of Anoj both physically and mentally since this trauma is causing him some suffering. Very important is that he is treated like the other children at Home of Hope even if he has a disability. He does get pain in his foot so we give him the best shoes possible for his condition. Anoj goes to school like all other children – we do not let his disability hold him back. Many thanks to Jenny Sondal for being Anoj’s sponsor and supporting him together with the Lööf Foundation.
