Simon Hooper’s Diary – March 10, 2018
I’ve just checked in at Birmingham airport for my 15 hour journey to Nairobi. I am visiting Kenya as a representative for the Loof Foundation to visit the site of what will become the Home of Health & Babies – a maternity ward and health centre.
My name is Simon Hooper. I am 43 years old and I am married with 2 fantastic girls. I work for Partex UK as a Systems Manager. Partex UK is the UK branch of a Swedish company
called Partex Marking Systems AB. The joint owner of the (family) company, Sophie Loof, is the chairman of a charitable foundation, the Loof Foundation, in to which a portion of the company profits are paid. The foundation supports charities around the world. This project, to build the Home of Health & Babies, is a joint venture with the ZB Foundation.
As an employee of Partex, I had the opportunity to join this trip as a representative. Being the father of two young girls, 2 and 3, I have recent experience of the fantastic health care for pregnant mothers in the UK, and I was keen to get involved in this project to provide a much-needed maternity service in this area of Nairobi. I’m now eager to board my flight and start the journey! More from me when I get there…
