Shyam Kumar Lama
Please meet Shyam Kumar Lama! He turns 31 this year and is married to Asha who turns 30 this year. Shyam and Asha will be the housefather and mother to our Home of Hope children! They have been married for 10 years and have a daughter who is 6 years old.
Shyam grew up in Ratankot and has four brothers and one sister. He completed his education in Kathamandu. Shyams wife Asha grew up with his sister and two brothers. Her parents died when she was only 8 years old. Both Shyam and Asha are great with the children and believe that everyone is equal. They encourage and hope to see that the caste systems disappear one day.
Shyam has helped Johan immensely with work in the village and is a figurehead in our book ” Dreams of an Orphanage”. A big thanks to Shyam and Asha for all you do and your hard work! We look forward to working with you at Home of Hope!
Asha
Please meet Asha who’s turning 30 years old this year. Asha will be the housemother to our Home of Hope children. She is married to Shyam Kumar Lama. Asha is very good with the children and believes that all people are equal and would like to see the caste system disappear one day. Thank you Asha for everything you do and we look forward to working together with you and Shyam at Home of Hope!
Preeti Lama
Please meet Preeti Lama! She is one of “our” Home of Hope children; she is 14 years old and lives with her grandparents. She has no siblings and has lived without any parents for 10 years. She wants to become a nurse when she grows older. She enjoys playing volleyball at school. In her spare time she helps her grandparents fetch water for their home, as well as helping with cleaning and cooking. Her favorite subject in school is social studies and her favorite color is red. She says that she feels very grateful and happy that she will have the opportunity to move into Home of Hope and that it will give her a brighter future. We look forward to getting to know more about Preeti and hope she enjoys her time at Home of Hope!!
Shree Krishna Thapa
Please meet Shree Krishna Thapa who is 14 years old and will be moving into Home of Hope when it is completed in April. He currently lives with his grandparents along with his two sisters. They have been orphaned for almost six years. He wants to be a teacher when he grows up. Like Preeti, he enjoys volleyball a lot and reading. At home with his grandparents he helps in the field, and with the cooking. His favorite subject in school is science and his favorite color is red! Thanks to Home of Hope, he feels that he has a brighter future!
Binita K.C
Please meet Binita K.C. She is 12 years of age and lives with her grandmother. She has two older sisters, and has been orphaned for five years now. She enjoys playing rugby, and dreams of becoming a nurse someday. She helps out in the field, with farming, as well as cooking, and helps her grandmother with other various household duties. Her favorite subject in school is Nepali, and her favorite color is black. She feels very grateful that we are accepting her into Home of Hope!
Abishek Lama
Please meet Abishek Lama. He is 13 years of age, and has a younger brother. Abishek enjoys playing volleyball and reading. He would like to become a doctor when he is older. He helps out in the field with farming, cooking and general household duties. His favorite subject in school is science, and his favorite color is red. He feels very grateful that Home of Hope was created, and that we will provide a home for so many children in the village.
Aren Bhandari
Please meet Aren Bhandari. He is 14 years old, and has two sisters and one brother. He enjoys playing volleyball, and would like to become a soldier in the army when he is older. He helps out in the field with farming, and helps with other household duties. His favorite subject in school is science, and his favorite color is red. He feels very grateful for the opportunity to move into Home of Hope, and is very appreciative for all that Lööf Foundation has done in the village.
Purna Kumari Thapa
Please meet Purna Kumari Thapa. She is 11 years of age. She helps with cleaning, and retrieving water for her house. Her favorite subject in school is Nepali and English. Her favorite color is green. She is looking forward to moving into Home of Hope, and cannot wait to live with her friends, and live closer to school, so that she can have more time to study!
Radhika Thapa
Please meet Radhika Thapa. She is 15 years old, and lives with her grandparents. Her brother is Shree Krishna Thapa, and has one other sister. She has been orphaned for 6 years and dreams of becoming a nurse when she is older. She enjoys playing volleyball and likes to read. She helps out in the field with farming, and helps with cooking. Her favorite subject in school is Nepali, and her favorite color is red. She is very appreciative for the work Lööf Foundation has done in the village.
Sorajacti Nepali
Please meet Sorajacti Nepali who is 15 years old. She has two brothers and enjoys playing rugby and reading. She helps out on the field and with cooking. Her Favorite subject in school is social studies, and her favorite color is black. She feels very grateful for Home of Hope, and that she will have a brighter future now because of it.
